How your personal information is handled, in line with South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).

Who handles your information

When you submit a form on a church’s Shepherdly page (joining as a member, RSVPing to an event, buying a ticket, or volunteering), the church is the responsible party for your information. Shepherdly provides the software and processes the information on the church’s behalf.

What we collect and why

Contact details (name, email, phone) — to manage your membership, booking, ticket or sign-up and to communicate with you about it.
Payment information — payments are processed securely by Paystack; Shepherdly does not store your card details.
Activity you provide — e.g. attendance, prayer requests or RSVPs you submit, used to provide the service you asked for.

How it’s used and shared

Your information is used only to provide and manage the service you signed up for with your church. It is not sold. It is shared only with service providers needed to run the service (e.g. Paystack for payments, email/notification delivery) and where required by law.

Your rights

Under POPIA you may ask to access, correct, or delete your personal information, or object to its processing. To do so, contact your church directly, or email [email protected] and we’ll route your request to the responsible church.

Retention

Information is kept only as long as needed for the purpose it was collected, or as required by law, after which it is deleted or anonymised.
